Whether you’re just visiting, stuck in line at the ferry, or a local enjoying the schadenfreude, we’ve got food for you.

We have a brand new pub with plenty of indoor and outdoor deck seating, all with great views of the water while you enjoy everything we have to offer.

The Drinks

The Pub area is fully licensed and serves local beer from around Vancouver Island! We also carry all your usual favourites. Enjoy a sip while sitting on our cantilevered deck while the waves wash the sand below you.

The Food

The Pub offers full-service dining for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events. Daily specials show off local seafood, while regular fare includes a variety of burgers, traditional pub food, and full meals.

The Take-Out Window

The take-out window is your kids’ favourite place, and your saving grace. Ice cream, cookies, chips, and small meals like sandwiches and hot dogs to get you through the ferry line-up. You can also get hamburgers, chicken strips, fries, and more – see our chalk board.

Highlights on Hornby

The Thatch Waterfront Pub is located on the ocean right next to the ferry landing. Facilities include a neighbourhood pub, licensed for families, and a dock in the summertime.

There’s no better place to enjoy great food and great staff, all with a gorgeous waterfront view from a deck cantilevered over the bay. With the close proximity to the ferry terminal, you can also get take-out service for those in a hurry.

There is a private dock out front if you require moorage – for day use only. Come by, tie up for a couple of hours and enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner in our new building.

Fully Licensed

As the only watering hole on Hornby, The Thatch offers full service, licensed dining at the water’s edge.

Enjoy local craft beer, and wine made right on the Island, and all of your usual favourites too.

The Pub has everything from home-made soups and salads to great burgers, fish & chips, and specials every day.

The take-out window serves ice cream, hotdogs, fries, and more while you enjoy the view and wait for the Ferry.

Special Events

We host an annual Superbowl Party, and major events on Labor Day and B.C. Day: with festivities throughout the afternoon including the build-bail-and-sail, a dog show, tug of war, and live music.
